Parking in La Rochelle
We are going to la Rochelle end of August and we are bringing our car. Can anyone suggest a long stay car park in Vieux Port area and how much would it be for a week. Thank you.
Hello, sorry that no-one has answered your post. Parking can be difficult in town but there are some car parks that you could use. Parking St Nicolas , or Place de Verdun. Unluckily I dont have prices as we never need to park in town but this will bump it up and maybe someone else will be able to help.
Hello, we haven't parked long term in La Rochelle but found Place de Verdun a convenient location and a brief walk to the old part.. I don't know the cost long term but we paid about €5 for about five hours parking which we didn't think was bad. We hadn't been to La Rochelle for a few years and it seemed that there were more bus lanes than before, but could be us!
Here is a link to the tourist office page on parking. Yes there are many more bus lanes and more pedestrianised streets (quai duperre on le vieux port is car free exceot for buses and taxis)
For anyone coming in tge next two weeks, I just drove through town, busy everywhere the traffic is more or less gridlocked because of the fresh traffic system and roadworks on the chemin de remparts. The park and rail at parc expo has fat queues for buses as this is on the main route into town from the motorway but the park and rail at lagord north of LR is very quiet so i would advise people to come into town this way.
we are planning to drive to la Rochelle tomorrow from la faute sur mer (just spending one day in La Rochelle). We will be travelling with our dog so I am assuming we cannot do park and rail? Can anyone tell us what the most convenient parking would be?
I cannot say much about parking but if you go onto the La Rochelle webcams they will give you a good idea of the traffic. If I was walking a dog I would attempt and park near or in Verdun car park and head towards Parc Charruyer and then towards the beach.
Wrappido, good advice. the car park in parc charruyer is near to place de verdun and is pleasant to walk with your dog right through to the beach area or crossing over place de verdun to the old town. You could even park at place de verdun itself. The parking in the parc is near the swimming pool and every popular with camping cars so it fills up early, it will help to be an early bird!
Other options are Espace encan and St Nicholas.
thank you for the replies–very much appreciate it.
