Our Snow Report

So as there are only a few remaining days of the 2016/2017 season this will be our last snow report until later in the year. Even as we inject the middle of April there is still fantastic coverage in the Grandvalira domain. The snow is soft, even from very first lifts, except where you find runs partially or fully in the shade where it remains hard packed until later in the day. It’s best to head up as early as possible, because after lunch as the sun resumes to soften the snow it does mean you have to work indeed hard with the gams.

We advise sticking to the higher areas as much as possible in the morning, then taking a leisurely lunch to soak up the sunshine and liking the temperatures in the early 20s. Make sure you are wearing adequate sun protection as you can feel the effects on your skin even after a brief time, and dress light so you can be as convenient as possible.

As another season comes to a close in Andorra, we hope you have loved keeping up to date with our snow reports and we look forward to helping you plan, book and ski with us next season.

Keep up to date with all the lastest news by simply following us on Facebook.

Our Snow Report

Over the last few days it has been snowing very lightly, leaving a lean layer of snow overnight which lead to powder days in the early hours of the day especially in the higher areas, becoming spring snow in the afternoon, which for snowboarders is a delight.

Temperatures during the week have been slightly higher and yesterday there were overcast skies that have dropped some snowflakes, albeit there have been no significant winds so all links inbetween resorts are operational as well as one hundred eighteen pistes open via the domain.

As the weather has been so variable, if you are coming to visit we do recommend that you pack for all eventualities, from clear bluebird days where it’s fine to ski in a jumper to overcast, colder days where you will need more layers and your flat-light lenses. Conditions can even switch from one hour to the next, so make sure you are keeping up-to-date with the weather forecast.

The resort is still very quiet with hardly any crowded slopes, and this week because the Total Fight Masters of Freestyle has taken place we have been hitting the park fairly a few days! And also our favourite runs have been Miquel (crimson run in El Tarter) Slalom (black run in Soldeu) and Llop (crimson run in El Tarter)

Our Snow Report

It undoubtedly doesn’t feel like late March in resort as the snow just won’t stop coming down! The snow embarked Wednesday night and continued Thursday morning. After shortly stopping in the afternoon yesterday, it is chucking it down again with the largest dump (48cm!) due this evening.

Yesterday we had to see out for the odd icy patch where the powder had been deep throated around on more exposed runs (like the top of Aliga) but with the extra today it is officially a powder day/weekend! With the snowstorm comes diminished visibility so we have been loving the powder on the lower runs – mainly lapping the Soldeu chairlift and liking Salvans and Torrallardona. We have also headed over to El Tarter and loved doing the bottom section of Aliga.

The runs have been quiet all week and we were able to love these without watching another person on the runs!

There is still three and a half weeks left of the season and with this fresh dump of snow it looks like we are set up for a brilliant finish! What better time to book a spring ski excursion?

Our Snow Report

Today we write a snow report of the past week but with a view towards the weekend, as there is up to 60cm of snow on the forecast due to commence tonight.

During the week temperatures have been fairly high, which has made the snow become a little bit more mighty as the day passes by so it is worth getting up for very first lifts. It has been a week of blue skies with not a cloud to be seen, therefore visibility it has been very good, and as per previous weeks we would recommend dark googles and sunglasses for when you stop on the terraces. There has been hardly any wind making you feel that temperatures were higher as well. The clouds have began to come in today (hopefully with the snow on the forecast!) so if you are coming out in the next week you will need ot be ready for varied conditions.

At the moment the resort is becoming quieter now we are in mid-March, especially on weekdays, so skiing on the slopes becomes a real pleasure. The quiet slopes helps the snow remain in superb conditions and coverage is still very good with 204km of runs open, however you will find some darker patches on the lower slopes. Our best runs of the week were Crimson Run in Soldeu Torrallardona, Teixo and Guineu in El Tarter and the Black Run Avet.

In addition this week the workers at the snowpark in El Tarter are preparing a spectacular for the snowboarding events from twenty four to twenty six March and freeski from thirty one March to one April. Total Fight is a must-see event if you want to see of the best snowboarders and freeskiers around the world! You can look out for British freestyle skiing James Forest who has been collecting medals all year at the X Games and World Championships.

Our Snow Report

We are already in the month of March and the weather in Andorra is beautiful at the moment. Sometimes sunny days, with temperatures more suitable for the month of March, and some other days with light snow that has brought about 4cm of snow.

Generally, visibility in the resort has been very good during the week, albeit we have had some days in which it has been diminished due to the snow. There is hardly any wind so the temperatures are warmer, and for anyone about to come to Andorra or for those who are already here, it is very significant not to leave behind suncream and good sunglasses, or dark goggles as the sun is bright and can burn.

The general condition of snow is good and the coverage resumes to be maintained in ideal condition thanks to the pisters working hard. The best skiing is to be had very first thing in the morning when the runs are freshly pisted as they can get a bit lumpier towards the end of the day as we stir to spring conditions.

This week Soldeu has been much quieter so skiing on the slopes is unspoiled pleasure, whether blues, reds or blacks. Our favourite run this week is Isaard In El Tarter, a fairly narrow and half-pipe crimson run that delights skiers and snowboarders who are a little more advanced.

Our Snow Report

What a difference twenty four hours can make! This week has seen bluebird skies and warm termperatures but last night the skies opened and we woke up to 40cm of fresh snow.

With snow still coming down this morning, we weren’t expecting as much sun as we got today which made the visibility remarkably good but you had to be ready for the sun to go back in again.

It was all about very first tracks today, with lots of people heading up the mountain very first thing. We made it up for 10am and still found some fresh lines to love lapping the Soldeu chairlift. With such deep powder, we found the steepest runs the best so liked black run Eslalom and crimson runs Fagina and Torrallardona. By lunchtime, some runs were getting a bit choppy but the cool temperatures kept the powder in superb condition all day. While crimson runs and black runs were unpisted, blue runs had lovely freshly pisted powdery snow for beginners and intermediates to love.

Thanks to some high winds today, the link inbetween Soldeu and Grau Roig was shut but all of the runs in Soldeu and El Tarter were open to love. Despite it being a Saturday, we were pleasurably astonished with the lack of queues and eyed few other people on the crimson and black runs.

There has been more snow across the day, with another 12cm forecast by tomorrow morning so we can’t wait to love another powder day!

Our Snow Report

During the week the skies have been downright clear, permitting us to love another sunny week with warmer temperatures. Since yesterday, the temperatures have dropped to -1 and it has been snowing today with more on the forecast for Saturday! During the week, albeit we have had days in which the temperatures have been high, the moderate winds have made thermal clothing necessary, otherwise you can get cold on the chairlifts.

Until today, the visibility has been very good, so dark lenses have been needed for googles and it is also worth remembering sunglasses for stopping at the restaurants for a snack or a cold drink so you can love the sun on the terraces.

Early in the morning is when you can find the best snow conditions, as via the day it can becomes stickier due to the warm temperatures. This mainly occurs on the busiest blue tracks while the crimson and black runs maintain better conditions via the day. With Carnaval this weekend, the blue slopes have been busier and we have waited in some lift queues, but this has quietened down again today.

Our dearest run has undoubtedly been crimson run: Isard, a narrow track with fine conditions and it is uncommon to see anyone else while you are skiing down!

Grandvalira still has 100% of pistes open providing you 210km to explore, with a good base of up to 150cm at the highest points.

Our Snow Report

What a fantastic week we have had! If two weeks ago, it was all about snow this week it has been all about bluebird skies, mild temperatures and good conditions.

The temperatures have risen this week making it warm enough to ski in just a t-shirt and jacket, or for those who feel the cold (like me!) with just thermals and a ski jacket it’s been more than enough. Due to the good conditions, the terraces and restaurants were always utter and sunglasses were more than needed when stopping for a coffee or a cold drink, so if you are heading over soon do not leave behind to pack them! Don’t leave behind your sun fluid as well, the sun is shining bright and it can burn you if you spend the entire day on the slopes.

The best snow is to be found in the mornings when the runs are freshly pisted, with some of the busier runs forming moguls towards the end of the day and the snow getting a little bit stickier.

This week is the half term for Portugal and France so runs can be a little bit busier but we have found the blue runs El Tarter quieter than Soldeu. If you are a certain skier, head to the crimson and black runs in Soldeu as they are still almost empty. We would recommend crimson run Salvans and black run Eslalom down in to the main village of Soldeu. If you are a beginner/intermediate blue runs are busier, especially if you going down right after ski school has commenced but around 11am – 13pm and then from 14:30 – 17.00pm runs are quieter.

Also going on in Andorra is Carnival week, so do not miss out on all the things going on such as parades along the main road in Soldeu and lots of fancy dress on the slopes.

Our Snow Report

This week has seen similar weather to last week, with more snow falling with another 25cm of fresh snowfall last night. All of the runs and links remain open as of today, but some high winds with the snowstorm did cause these to temporarily close yesterday. Today, and also Sunday, was absolutely beautiful with the sun shining and middle temperatures permitting us to love the skiing wearing just a few layers. There was some low lounging clouds coming in and out, but visibility would just decrease for brief periods before the sun would make its way out again.

Temperatures over the past week have been very variable, with yesterday having a cold wind chill but today significantly warmer which is due to carry on for the rest of the week. The best snow is to be found in the mornings when the runs are freshly pisted, with some of the busier runs forming moguls towards the end of the day. There is some nice powder to be found off the side of the pistes as well.

This week is the British Half Term so there are a lot of people in resort, but we were pleasurably astonished by the brief lift queues today and we were never waiting longer than five minutes. Overall, the slopes are not too busy, but the blue and green runs are busier so we liked mainly crimson and black runs today. **what was the crimson run we did towards grau while juan went off piste? Run of the day?

Our Snow Report

It has been another snowy week in Soldeu, with almost 40cm falling overnight on Sunday keeping the snow in good condition. Grandvalira presently has 123/128 runs open with 209km of slopes to love. Monday’s storm spotted high winds in resort which cause the links to Pas de la Casa and Canillo to be shut but there were still the lower slopes to love and there are no more strong winds on the forecast. The sun came out yesterday about midday so we got to love the powder with superb visibility but the clouds are coming in and out as the weather switches rapidly again today.

Temperatures have remained low so the snow is lasting very well. If you are coming over to Grandvalira this week we would recommend packing good thermals as well as goggles for low light and sunny days with the switching conditions. During the last week, the visibility has made the runs slightly more difficult at higher points but remained good on the lower and beginners slopes so we made the most of Tarter and Soldeu loving the Bosc Fosc, Gall de Bosc and Os runs. The best snow is to be found very first thing in the morning when the runs are freshly pisted, as moguls commence to form on busier runs towards the end of the day.

We have been making the most of the sunny spells that have been lasting a good few hours to love the runs and the fresh snow of the past week. At the moment, the base is up to 100cm at low points and 160cm at the top. We have taken advantage of the fresh powder to love some off piste in safe places, as the avalanche risk has gone up to Four/Five.

The weekend spotted some astounding youthful talent come to Grandvalira to challenge in the Freeride Junior World Championship in the Encamp sector, and L’Abarset in El Tarter hosted the prize providing.

Overall, it’s been a excellent week in Soldeu with lots going on and lots of snow!

Our Snow Report

What better way is there to begin this snow report than to announce that Grandvalira now has its utter 210km of slopes open including all links – Fine news!

Over the week, the conditions have remained very good as it has been snowing very lightly on and off after the big dump on Friday! Over the week we have had few windy and cloudy days with lower visibility that have brought more snow and some bluebird days that have brought up the temperatures and let us liked the runs and restaurant terraces. We are expecting more snow this weekend – with 20cm forecast for Sunday night! The snow is in superb condition at the moment with powdery mornings but it does get slightly stickier towards the end of the day. The best snow is to be found on the crimson and black runs as less people have skied over them.

Since Grandvalira has opened all the runs, this week it has also been about going off piste after taking part in the Mountain Safety and freeride course given by the ski school (keep an eye out for the total blog shortly) and also freshly opened black runs, and we have to say that we loved it a lot! Our team have skied two of the world cup runs: Áliga in El Tarter and Avet in Soldeu, amongst many others, but those are undoubtedly the ones that we have loved the most. Grandvalira has a lot to suggest for all levels of skiers, and the vast amount of piste means there’s slew to keep us busy for the season!

Our Snow Report

After the fat dump of powder we received last week, this week has been a mix of beautiful bluebird days to love the superb snow, and cloudy days which have brought even more, with 10cm falling on Monday, and very likely around the same again today as it switched rapidly to a cold and very snowy day, with intense snowflakes that made us look like snowmen while going up the chairlifts. In just over an hour it snowed around 10cm, so we determined to make the most of it. There was some wind but that did not stop us from liking the slopes and some of the powder off piste.

Thursday and Friday our team hit the slopes of Soldeu and El Tarter, and Saturday was a excellent day skiing across to Pas de la Casa. There are presently one hundred twenty six of the one hundred twenty eight slopes open across Grandvalira, so a big 206km of pistes to explore.

This week has certainly been all about the powder, and amongst our team the vote goes to Mirador in Grandvalira Grau Roig for run of the week. It’s one of the runs you can take skiing from Soldeu across to Pas de la Casa – it’s generally fairly broad and provides stunning views for you to love.

Looking at the forecast there’s more snow due on Friday and Saturday, so if you’re coming out to visit Soldeu or El Tarter soon it’s looking like some superb snow conditions for you. Don’t leave behind you can pre-book your ski extras and save money by doing so on our booking site here.

Our Snow Report

As you might have seen, we have received a massive dump of snow in Grandvalira with over 180cm of fresh snow in the last week. We couldn’t wait to hit the slopes and it was absolutely fantastic with explosions of powder to love every centimetre of each run.

Today the visibility was very good as the sun was shining and we eventually got to love a beautiful bluebird day with no wind after a stormy week. Temperatures remain very low, especially when you are in the shade so we would recommend layering up. Those on the slopes were making the most of the sun and liking the terraces around the restaurants.

It’s very hard to pick a favourite run of the day as every single run was delighful with slightly another skier to be seen. If we had to pick one, it would be the Marmota run, a broad and effortless blue run located in the Grandvalira Soldeu sector, heading towards Grau Roig or Encamp.

All the blue and some of the crimson ones are well groomed and with such a intense snowfall the resort is presently working hard to ensure that they can open more runs, at the moment 91/128 are open across Grandvalira.

For freeriders, there are specific areas open but adequate safety measures are required.

Check out the pictures from today in our facebook page and do not miss out anything going on the resort.

Our Snow Report

It’s looking to be a powder week in Soldeu!

The snow commenced late last night and has slightly stopped all day. There is slew more on the forecast, with up to 88cm predicted this week! There is presently 156km of piste open but with all of this fresh snow, that is likely to switch this week with more runs opening up.

The runs were in beautiful condition, with fresh powdery snow. It wasn’t too deep on the main runs – so lightly accessible for any levels. The best snow is to be found on the quieter runs, so head away from the beginner areas by the gondola to find the untouched snow! We indeed loved blue run Bosc Fosc which takes you all the way down to the bottom of the gondola today.

All the snow coming in has made for low visibility so we would recommend wearing low light lenses if you have them. It’s also a week to use buffs as the snow can be slightly awkward on your face when picking up speed! There is a light wind in resort today but it wasn’t too noticeable. It is set to get truly cold at the weekend (lows of -17!) so if you are coming out soon, make sure you pack lots of layers!

You can see all of our pictures and movies from the day on our Facebook page here.

Our Snow Report

Glad Fresh Year! It´s another week in to the season here in Soldeu so we are bringing you our latest snow report. Today we explored El Tarter and Canillo as well as Soldeu itself.

The weather was beautiful and the sun was shining so visibility was very good. However, it was a little windy and since temperatures have dropped down, more layers were necessary. Temperatures are expected to keep going down and there is snow on the long range forecast, so if you are coming soon make sure you pack both sun juice and thermal layers.

The snow coverage in Soldeu and El Tarter remains good; the snow cannons have been working hard across the night. In Canillo, the runs were a little more hard-packed but we truly liked the skiing as the slopes were empty. Our favourite run over in Canillo is Rossinyol with its stunning views across the mountains, plus it is a particularly long slope winding right around the Canillo mountain and down to the base; we even stopped to love the swings (the Canillo sector is well geared up for families). There were some icier patches around the busiest slopes, with the snow on the runs at its best very first thing when they are freshly groomed.

Our Snow Report

Today we took the snowboards up and spent some time checking out the slopes around the Grandvalira Soldeu and El Tarter sectors, it was another sunny and mild day so no extra layers were needed.

The runs have good coverage, especially in the morning, albeit there are a few icy patches dotted around particularly on the lower sections of the mountain. Today we loved good visibility with blue skies and no wind making it effortless to get around and explore as much of the mountain as you dreamed, all the links were open right across Grandvalira and 152km of slopes are groomed and available to all.

The slopes around Soldeu and El Tarter were busier due to it being Fresh Year week, you will find it is a little quieter as you head further out towards the Grau Roig sector.

If you are going to spend Fresh Year’s Eve in Soldeu don’t miss the torchlight descent that will be taking place on the Solana blue run coming into Soldeu on the evening of the 31st.

The forecast is presently showcasing temperatures ripping off from the weekend onwards so looks like some colder weather is on the way.

Our Snow Report

The sun was shining this morning in Soldeu so we explored both the Soldeu and El Tarter ski areas.

As of today, there is 136km of piste open, including the links to Grau Roig, and the runs have good coverage with generally grippy snow but there is the odd patch of ice to look out for. However, with the good visibility today it was effortless to see and navigate around it. Our favourite run today was blue run Solana which takes you back in to Soldeu from El Tarter which is nice and broad with packed powder to ski on.

It was a warm day with low winds so we stopped to love the sun with a drink at the bar outside Steak House (next to the Soldeu ski school at the top of the gondola).

The clouds began to come in this afternoon and it has just embarked to snow and it’s due to carry on all night!

Don’t leave behind to keep up with our latest pictures from resort on Facebook and Instagram.

With Christmas quick approaching, the resort is getting busier with lots going on for apres as well including live music.

Our Snow Report

We’ve been up skiing this morning across Grandvalira Soldeu and El Tarter. It was a beautiful, sunny bluebird day with mild temperatures, hence few layers were needed and we undoubtedly took the suncream up. Overall there is good coverage across the ski area with some irregular conditions on lower slopes, the snow was at it’s best very first thing in the morning and the slopes less busy then also.

Visibility was brilliant and there wasn’t any wind therefore the links bewteen Soldeu, El Tarter, Grau Roig and Encamp were all open. With conditions like this, it’s flawless to stop and love the sun on the terrace of the Crimson Bar (or any of the other terraces on the mountain) and love a cold drink to ease off and refresh.

For those who love freestyle, the snow parks in Grau Roig (Xavi snow park) and El Tarter are now partially open, as well as Sunset Park Peretol.

If you are around Soldeu tonight, there is slew of live music going on in various bars so pop out and love a few drinks (albeit make sure you keep your ski gams for the morning!).

Our Snow Report

It’s opening weekend for Soldeu, and we are having absolutely beautiful weather for it! With the sun shining, we explored some of the 147km of piste open today. All of the links are open, so we headed over to Grau Roig from Soldeu, with my private favourite run of the day being crimson run enradort.

The slopes were nice and quiet and we found ourselves the only skiers on some of the runs! The best snow was to be found at the highest points with some powder off the sides of the piste and some irregular terrain further down.

More and more of the bars in the village are opening, with apres ski bar L’Aberset opening in El Tarter today.

There are more bluebird days on the forecast for this week so make sure you are putting on suncream!

Our Snow Report

Grandvalira Pas de la Casa opened on Saturday with limited runs, however cold temperatures across this week combined with lots of snow making via the ski area mean Grandvalira now expect to open 70% of slopes this coming Friday.

Lower down coverage is still needing some work, but with 147km of slopes set to open from Friday onwards we’re looking forward to hitting the slopes of Soldeu very soon.

Our Snow Report

We’re less than two weeks away from the commence of the ski season and the slopes of Soldeu are turning white. The temperature has remained very low for well over a week and we’ve seen regular snowfall combined with the snow cannons commencing to operate too. The mountain is scheduled to open on 26th November, subject to weather conditions.

If you’re looking to organise your winter 2016-17 ski holiday to Soldeu or El Tarter then head over to our holidays page where you can plan and book a fully limber journey, or just the things you need.

Our regular snow report will embark once the mountain opens.

Our Snow Report

Our Snow Report

We’ve arrived at the final weekend of the season here in Soldeu, as the rest of Andorra, and have been treated to 20cm of fresh powder on the mountain! It’s a lot colder than the last few days, so looking forward to hitting the slopes shortly as the snow should be in fine condition.

Our Snow Report

We went skiing today from El Tarter to Grau Roig, early morning (around Ten:30) the snow was powdery and coverage was fantastic, over 30cm of fresh snow on the highest points and all fluffy. We headed for home around 15:30 and by then the snow was getting very soft and gooey, especially in the busiest slopes where skiing became a little tighter as the snow conditions were holding us back.

The weather was warm and very sunny so no thermal clothes were needed, and in fact towards the end of the day we ended up skiing just with a t-shirt. There wasn’t any wind so that let us love the slopes even more, and the chairlifts were ideal for sunbathing! Visibility was very good, no clouds in the sky, and a good pair of black screen googles or sunglasses were very needed.

At the moment we have 191km of slopes open, and the skiable area remains in very good condition, with slew of slopes to explore that at the moment aren’t as busy as it has been across the season, so the skiing was effortless as you could love the entire slope for yourself, to fly down or to love the views and good company. Towards Grau Roig the runs were empty and we did a entire run without bumping into anyone.

The weather for the rest of the week is due to remain the same as today, and with some chances of snowing on Saturday.

If you have slew time, we recommend skiing from Soldeu or El Tarter over to Pas de la Casa and stop in Pessons for a beautiful picture and a cold drink while calming on the loungers.

Our Snow Report

Skiing inbetween Soldeu and El Tarter today we found the snow still in very good condition; we now have a superb base from the latest intense snowfall and a further very light top up last night freshened up the slopes nicely.

Temperatures have embarked to pick up a little (as expected for end of March), even tho’ there wasn’t much sun around today it still felt pleasant enough to ski without the usual thermal layers. The pleasant conditions were further added to by the lack of wind, making the skiing slick and effortless in general.

All links open and only two runs closed across the entire of Grandvalira today, leaving us with one hundred twenty slopes to love (that’s 208km of skiable terrain!)

It is a little busier than usual on the slopes at the moment due to it being Spanish and Portuguese half term, so queues are a little longer than normal at times but still very effortless to make your way around.

The outlook for the rest of the week is much the same, a combination of sunshine and clouds with temperatures remaining pleasant and maybe the odd light snow shower.

Our Snow Report

We are going skiing so keep an eye on the snow report and facebook page to see what the snow conditions are like.

Today was a POWDER DAY! We have received around 40cm of fresh snow over the last 24-48hrs; base levels are now at around 130cm at the top. We had a fine time playing around in the fresh powder, we found that the snow got fairly tracked out on the busier slopes, especially towards the end of the day so took the chance to explore off piste where the best conditions were to be found, with the snow nice and soft, lighter going on the gams than the tracked powder on the slopes.

Beautiful sunshine and a slightly warmer day than we have been having over the last week or so, hardly any wind for most of the day and fine visibility made for excellent conditions, albeit later in the day a few more clouds and a colder wind did showcase up.

All links open across Grandvalira and around 207km of skiable terrain open. The slopes were a little busier today, particularly the lighter blue runs, quieter on some of the lesser known reds and blacks.

It’s been a fantastic March so far, we hope you will join us for the end of season!!

Our Snow Report

Today we headed up the mountain at around 11:00 and were originally greeted by fantastic weather with blue skies and sunshine, however as the day passed a few clouds began to stir in in readiness for the forecasted snow, with it the temperatures dropped and the wind began to pick up towards the end of the day, holding us back on our skis a little at times.

We skied from Soldeu over to Pas de la Casa and despite the clouds later on visibility was pretty good right across Grandvalira. Snow coverage in general is good, we found the odd icy patch on some of the busier slops but lightly avoidable. The best skiing is to be had on the quieter slopes where the snow is less disturbed and suggesting up some truly pleasurable conditions, in particular we found a lot of the black slopes quiet and in fine condition today, these included Aliga (El Tarter), Avet (Soldeu) and Mirador (Grau Roig), superb for challenging the ski gams.

We arrived in Pas at around 12:30 for a pit stop, it was just kicking off to snow very lightly as per the forecast, we are expecting light snow showers for the next duo of days before a stronger band of snow is due to arrive with us on Wednesday / Thursday.

120 (out of 122) slopes open today, 100% of lifts and links open so a good day to cover a lot of kms and explore the entire area. The snowparks are still looking good, with slew of beginners having a go on the smaller leaps over in Xavi Snowpark (Grau Roig), we stopped and observed for a little while today and even spotted some courageous youngsters (around five or six yrs) having a go and liking themselves, it’s a fine joy park for anyone looking to have a go at freestyle for the very first time.

Our Snow Report

Upon waking this morning we were greeted with the wonderful glance of the snow falling very powerfully, of course we can’t miss a POWDER DAY, so got packaged up to the max – yes it’s freezing! (The car was showcasing -7 this morning but it feels much colder) and headed off up the mountain.

We hopped on the gondola in Soldeu and made our way up to the base where we found the visibility was ok, not the best, but good enough to head off and explore, however when we reached the highest points (as we attempted to head over towards Grau Roig) visibility became very poor so we determined to stay local and remain on the lower slopes. All of the links were open today and there was little wind, so it was possible to ski the while area if you wished, however this was of course hindered by the low snow clouds.

The snow itself was amazing, soft fresh powder and slew more falling as the day went on. The slopes were not particularly busy, permitting us the freedom to love the conditions and truly make the most of the snow. Coverage is fantastic and with 207km (of 210km) open there is a vast amount of good skiing to be had at the moment.

WOW…today the snow clouds left us and we loved an amazing bluebird day with clear blue skies and a fountain of fresh powder, the holy grail of ski days! Over the last few days Grandvalira has received around 30cm of fresh snowfall and conditions are pretty much flawless.

It’s still pretty quiet on the slopes and Grandvalira have hinted that they hope to open 100% (all 210km) of the area this weekend; they have been pretty close for a while now, just missing out on a handful of runs, but with this latest powerful snowfall it’s looking positive.

It’s a good time to come and join us, and if you are considering heading out over Easter you’ll be pleased to know that the slopes are in peak top form!

Our Snow Report

Today we skied from Canillo right across to Pas de la Casa and are blessed to report that the conditions remain fantastic on the slopes, we are indeed loving the skiing at the moment!

It has been snowing yet again overnight providing a further top up of fresh powder snow. Temperatures remain cold, slightly reaching above freezing so wrap up warm and you’ll be glad of a scarf and a warm hat / helmet.

The slopes are pretty empty right now, ideal for some relaxed skiing liking the odd sunny spells, plus visibility was good today making it so much lighter to love the lovely fresh powder.

All the links are open right across Grandvalira and 207km (out of 210km) of slopes are groomed and available to love.

We took a little ski through the Mont Magic children’s area whilst in Canillo which is superb joy for the little ones, before heading across the valley towards the other side of Grandvalira; once we arrived in Pas / Grau we particularly loved Menera (crimson) and Taupes (black) which is was in amazing condition today. We also checked out the Xavi snowpark in Grau Roig on our way and attempted a duo of (petite!) tricks, very pleasant and much like the rest of the area at the moment in excellent condition.

Outlook remains good with continued snowfall over the next week or so, Wednesday being the most intense day with around 20cm expected.

Our Snow Report

Powder snow conditions today as it has been snowing for the past three days, the snowfall has been light to moderate but consistent, resulting in a nice accumulation of fresh powder across the slopes.

If you are heading out today make sure you wrap up warm; thermal clothing and a hot chocolate stop will serve you well as temps are due to sit inbetween -4 and -9 degrees Celsius, winds not too bad at around 20km /hour but may bring an extra wind chill feeling even colder.

Visibility in Soldeu is good in general with a few sunny spells in inbetween the cloud and snow, however if you are heading over to Pas de la Casa expect the visibility to worsen a little bit as the clouds are very low.

All links are open across Grandvalira today with up to 205km of skiable terrain on suggest; the slopes are pretty quiet at the moment and providing some fine conditions for those arriving this week.

Next week’s forecast shows further snow to come with the most intense fall due on Wednesday, we are loving some fantastic consistent snowfall so far this month, and temperatures are set to remain very cold!

The freestyle areas are all open for anyone looking to practice their tricks, and for the real adrenaline junkies don´t leave behind that From March ten to thirteen Grandvalira will once again host two trials of the Speed Skiing World Cup (in the Grau Roig sector).

Our Snow Report

A nice amount of sunshine today with temperatures reaching up to six degrees Celsius in places, there was some occasional low cloud and high winds higher up this morning but by midday this had passed. The snow conditions on piste are still very pleasant, the fresh snow in latest days brought some fresh powder, however this has now been mostly packed down into firmer conditions.

Run of the day: Today we liked skiing Tamarro which is a crimson slope from the bottom of the Els Clots chairlift running down into El Tarter. It’s a nice broad open run with a excellent view running along the side of the mountain. To reach it from El Tarter just take the Llosada chairlift up to the top and then go after Oreneta (blue run) down, around half way down you’ll see a turn off for Tamarro. It’s a nice alternative to get back down to El Tarter from the top, for those at intermediate level it will permit you to challenge your ski gams a little.

Our Snow Report

This weekend brought the World Cup and strenuous snow for Soldeu and El Tarter, the World Cup events are now over, however the snow remains with us and more forecast later this week. Conditions on the slopes were freezing today and winds were strong, making the skiing a little hard going at times. Temperatures are predicted to drop further in the days to come, slew of layers and good cover for your face and ears will be particularly useful on the higher slopes and lifts. On the other forearm, the lower slopes suggested much more timid conditions and a more pleasant skiing practice, with winds staying lower and visibility good.

The forecast is for further snow in Soldeu / El Tarter, mixed with sunshine and cloud, albeit it may still remain blustery for the next duo of days. We eyed 179km (out of 210km) of skiable terrain open today, some lifts / slopes were impacted by the wind and incapable to open.

Our Snow Report

Our Snow Report

Today’s chairlift journey to the top of Soldeu was a very cold one as -7 degrees Celsius left a crisp chill in the air, today was not a day to leave behind your gloves! Some low fog and clouds did make visibility hard at times but it only lasted shortly permitting for a pleasurably sunny day.

Cortales (blue) in Soldeu was closed for unknown reasons today, so if you usually use that as a link to Grau Roig, the best solution is to keep following Solana (blue) down to the bottom of the TSF4 Solanelles chairlift and at the top take Enllac (blue) down to the TK Llac del Cubil chairlift which will take you to Grau Roig.

Still slew of snow on the slopes with the tightly packed natural snow being topped up with artificial snow from the cannons, the cannons have been working hard to make the most of the cold temperatures we are having at the moment. Occasional icy patches can be found but are few and far inbetween, therefore lightly avoidable. The forecast is demonstrating strong snow fall is due to sweep through Grandvalira this weekend, so keep an eye out for our updates.

Meantime in El Tarter, the course has been set up, the giant screens have been built and spectator stands have been erected, all in prep for the Women’s World Cup Ski Racing this weekend. The racing will take place on the FIS approved Aliga black run, this slope starts from the top of El Tarter just to the left of the Tosa Dels Espiolets chairlift and finishes at the bottom of the TSD4 El Tarter chairlift. The very first half of the run is broad open and steep in places but remarkably effortless going, the 2nd half of the course on the other mitt is more for the skilled skier/snowboarder being narrower and very steep in parts.

Update: twenty eight February two thousand sixteen AM

The last two days have seen the forecasted snow materialise with consistent (and at times mighty) snowfall across the day on Saturday, the snow clouds remain with us on Sunday morning and it’s looking like another snowy day. We will post a further update on conditions once we have had a chance to hit the slopes and check out the conditions for ourselves.

It’s best to head up as early as possible, because after lunch as the sun resumes to soften the snow it does mean you have to work truly hard with the gams.

We advise sticking to the higher areas as much as possible in the morning, then taking a leisurely lunch to soak up the sunshine and loving the temperatures in the early 20s. Make sure you are wearing suitable sun protection as you can feel the effects on your skin even after a brief time, and dress light so you can be as comfy as possible.

As another season comes to a close in Andorra, we hope you have liked keeping up to date with our snow reports and we look forward to helping you plan, book and ski with us next season.

The snow began Wednesday night and continued Thursday morning. After shortly stopping in the afternoon yesterday, it is chucking it down again with the thickest dump (48cm!) due this evening.

Yesterday we had to observe out for the odd icy patch where the powder had been throated around on more exposed runs (like the top of Aliga) but with the extra today it is officially a powder day/weekend! With the snowstorm comes diminished visibility so we have been liking the powder on the lower runs – mainly lapping the Soldeu chairlift and liking Salvans and Torrallardona.

What better time to book a spring ski journey?

Our Snow Report

Today we write a snow report of the past week but with a view towards the weekend, as there is up to 60cm of snow on the forecast due to begin tonight.

The clouds have commenced to come in today (hopefully with the snow on the forecast!) so if you are coming out in the next week you will need ot be ready for varied conditions.

At the moment the resort is becoming quieter now we are in mid-March, especially on weekdays, so skiing on the slopes becomes a real pleasure. The quiet slopes helps the snow remain in fine conditions and coverage is still very good with 204km of runs open, however you will find some darker patches on the lower slopes.

The general condition of snow is good and the coverage resumes to be maintained in flawless condition thanks to the pisters working hard.

With such deep powder, we found the steepest runs the best so loved black run Eslalom and crimson runs Fagina and Torrallardona.

Despite it being a Saturday, we were pleasurably astonished with the lack of queues and spotted few other people on the crimson and black runs.

There has been more snow via the day, with another 12cm forecast by tomorrow morning so we can’t wait to love another powder day!

You can see our pictures and more regular updates on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Our Snow Report

During the week the skies have been entirely clear, permitting us to love another sunny week with warmer temperatures.

Early in the morning is when you can find the best snow conditions, as across the day it can becomes stickier due to the warm temperatures. This mainly occurs on the busiest blue tracks while the crimson and black runs maintain better conditions across the day. With Carnaval this weekend, the blue slopes have been busier and we have waited in some lift queues, but this has quietened down again today.

Our dearest run has undoubtedly been crimson run: Isard, a narrow track with superb conditions and it is uncommon to see anyone else while you are skiing down!

Grandvalira still has 100% of pistes open providing you 210km to explore, with a good base of up to 150cm at the highest points.

For daily updates, check out our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Due to the superb conditions, the terraces and restaurants were always total and sunglasses were more than needed when stopping for a coffee or a cold drink, so if you are heading over soon do not leave behind to pack them! Don’t leave behind your sun juices as well, the sun is shining bright and it can burn you if you spend the entire day on the slopes.

It has been another snowy week in Soldeu, with almost 40cm falling overnight on Sunday keeping the snow in excellent condition. Grandvalira presently has 123/128 runs open with 209km of slopes to love. Monday’s storm spotted high winds in resort which cause the links to Pas de la Casa and Canillo to be shut but there were still the lower slopes to love and there are no more strong winds on the forecast. The sun came out yesterday about midday so we got to love the powder with good visibility but the clouds are coming in and out as the weather switches rapidly again today.

Temperatures have remained low so the snow is lasting very well. If you are coming over to Grandvalira this week we would recommend packing good thermals as well as goggles for low light and sunny days with the switching conditions. During the last week, the visibility has made the runs slightly more difficult at higher points but remained good on the lower and beginners slopes so we made the most of Tarter and Soldeu liking the Bosc Fosc, Gall de Bosc and Os runs.

The weekend eyed some epic youthful talent come to Grandvalira to rival in the Freeride Junior World Championship in the Encamp sector, and L’Abarset in El Tarter hosted the prize providing.

Overall, it’s been a excellent week in Soldeu with lots going on and lots of snow!

Our Snow Report

What better way is there to commence this snow report than to announce that Grandvalira now has its total 210km of slopes open including all links – Excellent news!

Our team have skied two of the world cup runs: Áliga in El Tarter and Avet in Soldeu, amongst many others, but those are certainly the ones that we have loved the most. Grandvalira has a lot to suggest for all levels of skiers, and the vast amount of piste means there’s slew to keep us busy for the season!

Check out the pictures from the past week in our website

Our Snow Report

After the hefty dump of powder we received last week, this week has been a mix of beautiful bluebird days to love the superb snow, and cloudy days which have brought even more, with 10cm falling on Monday, and most likely around the same again today as it switched rapidly to a cold and very snowy day, with mighty snowflakes that made us look like snowmen while going up the chairlifts.

There are presently one hundred twenty six of the one hundred twenty eight slopes open via Grandvalira, so a hefty 206km of pistes to explore.

Looking at the forecast there’s more snow due on Friday and Saturday, so if you’re coming out to visit Soldeu or El Tarter soon it’s looking like some good snow conditions for you. Don’t leave behind you can pre-book your ski extras and save money by doing so on our booking site here.

Our Snow Report

As you might have seen, we have received a massive dump of snow in Grandvalira with over 180cm of fresh snow in the last week. We couldn’t wait to hit the slopes and it was absolutely fantastic with fountains of powder to love every centimetre of each run.

Today the visibility was very good as the sun was shining and we ultimately got to love a beautiful bluebird day with no wind after a stormy week.

All the blue and some of the crimson ones are well groomed and with such a mighty snowfall the resort is presently working hard to ensure that they can open more runs, at the moment 91/128 are open across Grandvalira.

For freeriders, there are specific areas open but adequate safety measures are required.

Check out the pictures from today in our facebook page and do not miss out anything going on the resort.

Our Snow Report

It’s looking to be a powder week in Soldeu!

The snow embarked late last night and has slightly stopped all day.

We truly loved blue run Bosc Fosc which takes you all the way down to the bottom of the gondola today.

All the snow coming in has made for low visibility so we would recommend wearing low light lenses if you have them. It’s also a week to use buffs as the snow can be slightly awkward on your face when picking up speed! There is a light wind in resort today but it wasn’t too noticeable. It is set to get indeed cold at the weekend (lows of -17!) so if you are coming out soon, make sure you pack lots of layers!

You can see all of our pictures and movies from the day on our Facebook page here.

Our Snow Report

Blessed Fresh Year!

Temperatures are expected to keep going down and there is snow on the long range forecast, so if you are coming soon make sure you pack both sun fluid and thermal layers.

The snow coverage in Soldeu and El Tarter remains good; the snow cannons have been working hard across the night. In Canillo, the runs were a little more hard-packed but we truly loved the skiing as the slopes were empty.

Today we liked fine visibility with blue skies and no wind making it effortless to get around and explore as much of the mountain as you dreamed, all the links were open right across Grandvalira and 152km of slopes are groomed and available to all.

The forecast is presently demonstrating temperatures ripping off from the weekend onwards so looks like some colder weather is on the way.

The clouds began to come in this afternoon and it has just began to snow and it’s due to carry on all night!

Don’t leave behind to keep up with our latest pictures from resort on Facebook and Instagram.

With Christmas prompt approaching, the resort is getting busier with lots going on for apres as well including live music.

With conditions like this, it’s ideal to stop and love the sun on the terrace of the Crimson Bar (or any of the other terraces on the mountain) and love a cold drink to loosen and refresh.

Grandvalira Pas de la Casa opened on Saturday with limited runs, however cold temperatures across this week combined with lots of snow making across the ski area mean Grandvalira now expect to open 70% of slopes this coming Friday.

Lower down coverage is still needing some work, but with 147km of slopes set to open from Friday onwards we’re looking forward to hitting the slopes of Soldeu very soon.

Our Snow Report

We’re less than two weeks away from the begin of the ski season and the slopes of Soldeu are turning white. The temperature has remained very low for well over a week and we’ve seen regular snowfall combined with the snow cannons embarking to operate too. The mountain is scheduled to open on 26th November, subject to weather conditions.

If you’re looking to organise your winter 2016-17 ski holiday to Soldeu or El Tarter then head over to our holidays page where you can plan and book a fully lithe excursion, or just the things you need.

Our regular snow report will commence once the mountain opens.

Our Snow Report

That’s all folks!

Sadly the winter 2015-16 ski season has come to an end. Thank you for all your support this year and we hope you liked your holidays.

We’d love to see you comeback next winter and we’ll confirm season dates and prices as soon as everything is finalised, you’ll be able to book online from around the end of August.

Stay in touch on our Facebook page for updates during the summer.

We headed for home around 15:30 and by then the snow was getting very soft and goopy, especially in the busiest slopes where skiing became a little stiffer as the snow conditions were holding us back.

At the moment we have 191km of slopes open, and the skiable area remains in very good condition, with slew of slopes to explore that at the moment aren’t as busy as it has been via the season, so the skiing was effortless as you could love the entire slope for yourself, to fly down or to love the views and good company.

At the moment we have 191km of slopes open, and the skiable area remains in very good condition, with slew of slopes to explore that at the moment aren’t as busy as it has been via the season, so the skiing was effortless as you could love the entire slope for yourself, to fly down or to love the views and good company. Towards Grau Roig the runs were empty and we did a entire run without bumping into anyone.

The weather for the rest of the week is due to remain the same as today, and with some chances of snowing on Saturday.

Our Snow Report

Skiing inbetween Soldeu and El Tarter today we found the snow still in very good condition; we now have a excellent base from the latest intense snowfall and a further very light top up last night freshened up the slopes nicely.

Temperatures have commenced to pick up a little (as expected for end of March), even however there wasn’t much sun around today it still felt pleasant enough to ski without the usual thermal layers.

We had a superb time playing around in the fresh powder, we found that the snow got fairly tracked out on the busier slopes, especially towards the end of the day so took the chance to explore off piste where the best conditions were to be found, with the snow nice and soft, lighter going on the gams than the tracked powder on the slopes.

Beautiful sunshine and a slightly warmer day than we have been having over the last week or so, hardly any wind for most of the day and superb visibility made for excellent conditions, albeit later in the day a few more clouds and a colder wind did display up.

Today we headed up the mountain at around 11:00 and were originally greeted by fantastic weather with blue skies and sunshine, however as the day passed a few clouds commenced to stir in in readiness for the forecasted snow, with it the temperatures dropped and the wind commenced to pick up towards the end of the day, holding us back on our skis a little at times.

We skied from Soldeu over to Pas de la Casa and despite the clouds later on visibility was pretty good right across Grandvalira. Snow coverage in general is good, we found the odd icy patch on some of the busier slops but lightly avoidable. The best skiing is to be had on the quieter slopes where the snow is less disturbed and suggesting up some truly pleasurable conditions, in particular we found a lot of the black slopes quiet and in superb condition today, these included Aliga (El Tarter), Avet (Soldeu) and Mirador (Grau Roig), superb for challenging the ski gams.

We arrived in Pas at around 12:30 for a pit stop, it was just kicking off to snow very lightly as per the forecast, we are expecting light snow showers for the next duo of days before a stronger band of snow is due to arrive with us on Wednesday / Thursday.

120 (out of 122) slopes open today, 100% of lifts and links open so a excellent day to cover a lot of kms and explore the entire area. The snowparks are still looking good, with slew of beginners having a go on the smaller leaps over in Xavi Snowpark (Grau Roig), we stopped and observed for a little while today and even spotted some plucky youngsters (around five or six yrs) having a go and liking themselves, it’s a excellent joy park for anyone looking to have a go at freestyle for the very first time.

Our Snow Report

Upon waking this morning we were greeted with the wonderful view of the snow falling very intensely, of course we can’t miss a POWDER DAY, so got packaged up to the max – yes it’s freezing! (The car was demonstrating -7 this morning but it feels much colder) and headed off up the mountain.

All of the links were open today and there was little wind, so it was possible to ski the while area if you desired, however this was of course hindered by the low snow clouds.

The snow itself was amazing, soft fresh powder and slew more falling as the day went on. The slopes were not particularly busy, permitting us the freedom to love the conditions and indeed make the most of the snow. Coverage is fantastic and with 207km (of 210km) open there is a vast amount of good skiing to be had at the moment.

WOW…today the snow clouds left us and we liked an amazing bluebird day with clear blue skies and a fountain of fresh powder, the holy grail of ski days! Over the last few days Grandvalira has received around 30cm of fresh snowfall and conditions are pretty much flawless.

It’s still pretty quiet on the slopes and Grandvalira have hinted that they hope to open 100% (all 210km) of the area this weekend; they have been pretty close for a while now, just missing out on a handful of runs, but with this latest strenuous snowfall it’s looking positive.

It’s a excellent time to come and join us, and if you are considering heading out over Easter you’ll be pleased to know that the slopes are in peak top form!

Our Snow Report

Today we skied from Canillo right across to Pas de la Casa and are blessed to report that the conditions remain fantastic on the slopes, we are indeed liking the skiing at the moment!

It has been snowing yet again overnight providing a further top up of fresh powder snow. Temperatures remain cold, hardly reaching above freezing so wrap up warm and you’ll be glad of a scarf and a warm hat / helmet.

The slopes are pretty empty right now, ideal for some relaxed skiing loving the odd sunny spells, plus visibility was good today making it so much lighter to love the lovely fresh powder.

All the links are open right across Grandvalira and 207km (out of 210km) of slopes are groomed and available to love.

We took a little ski through the Mont Magic children’s area whilst in Canillo which is excellent joy for the little ones, before heading across the valley towards the other side of Grandvalira; once we arrived in Pas / Grau we particularly loved Menera (crimson) and Taupes (black) which is was in amazing condition today. We also checked out the Xavi snowpark in Grau Roig on our way and attempted a duo of (petite!) tricks, very pleasant and much like the rest of the area at the moment in superb condition.

Our Snow Report

A nice amount of sunshine today with temperatures reaching up to six degrees Celsius in places, there was some occasional low cloud and high winds higher up this morning but by midday this had passed. The snow conditions on piste are still very pleasurable, the fresh snow in latest days brought some fresh powder, however this has now been mostly packed down into firmer conditions.

Run of the day: Today we loved skiing Tamarro which is a crimson slope from the bottom of the Els Clots chairlift running down into El Tarter. It’s a nice broad open run with a fine view running along the side of the mountain.

Temperatures are predicted to drop further in the days to come, slew of layers and good cover for your face and ears will be particularly useful on the higher slopes and lifts. On the other arm, the lower slopes suggested much more timid conditions and a more pleasant skiing practice, with winds staying lower and visibility good.

The forecast is for further snow in Soldeu / El Tarter, mixed with sunshine and cloud, albeit it may still remain blustery for the next duo of days. We spotted 179km (out of 210km) of skiable terrain open today, some lifts / slopes were impacted by the wind and incapable to open.

The forecast is displaying strong snow fall is due to sweep through Grandvalira this weekend, so keep an eye out for our updates.

Meantime in El Tarter, the course has been set up, the giant screens have been built and spectator stands have been erected, all in prep for the Women’s World Cup Ski Racing this weekend. The racing will take place on the FIS approved Aliga black run, this slope starts from the top of El Tarter just to the left of the Tosa Dels Espiolets chairlift and completes at the bottom of the TSD4 El Tarter chairlift. The very first half of the run is broad open and steep in places but remarkably effortless going, the 2nd half of the course on the other mitt is more for the skilled skier/snowboarder being narrower and very steep in parts.

Update: twenty eight February two thousand sixteen AM

The last two days have seen the forecasted snow materialise with consistent (and at times strong) snowfall via the day on Saturday, the snow clouds remain with us on Sunday morning and it’s looking like another snowy day. We will post a further update on conditions once we have had a chance to hit the slopes and check out the conditions for ourselves.
