Fresh Updates for Windows

There are two download types:

Manual: Ad-hoc download with minor enhancements and/or minor bug fixes. Download from the Download Center or when instructed by our Support team.

Prompted: Significant download with useful feature enhancements and/or critical bug fixes. It will download automatically or prompt the user to download when there is no meeting in-progress.

Switch to an existing feature

The default setting for who webinar hosts “allow attendees to talk with” has been switched. By default, hosts now permits attendees to talk with “all panelists and attendees.”

Switch to an existing feature

  • Participant list is sorted to highlight unmuted participants

The Participant list for meetings and webinars is sorted so that participants who are unmuted are shown closer to the top of the list than participants who are muted.

Fresh and enhanced features

A host can request a URL to be used by a 3rd party closed captioning solution. The URL provides access to the specific event, enabling the instrument to inject caption text for a Zoom meeting or webinar. See Closed Caption REST API for details.

  • Accessibility enhancements

    Choose the option Record audio track for each speaker on the Recording Location tab of the Settings page in the client to create separate audio recording files, each isolating the audio of each speaker. If you do not choose this option, a single recording file mixes the audio of all speakers.

    • Webinar features
      • Reuse Q&A answers

        Hosts and panelists can copy/paste answers from Q&A in order to reuse answers to previously asked questions.

      • Co-hosts can control polls

        Co-hosts can launch and close a poll that was created by the meeting organizer.

      • Spotlight for webinars with two panelists

        If a webinar has two panelists, the host can spotlight one of them.

    • Meeting features
      • Access to the screen during remote control sessions

        During a session in which remote control is enabled, the meeting controls are either hidden or the size of the remote session is diminished. This enables better access for users who are remotely controlling the screen.

    • General features
      • Enhanced font size

        The font size of the text in the talk messages window for both in meeting and out of meeting talk is enlargened. The font size on the client home page is also enlargened.

      • Client window behavior when closed

        The option When closed, minimize window to the notification area instead of the task bar, in the Application area of the General Settings for the Zoom Client, is now enabled by default.

    Switch to an existing feature

    Google has enhanced the login process and in the latest version of Zoom, logging into Zoom through Google takes advantage of these enhancements.

    Significant: If you log in using Google, you must upgrade the client before April 20.

    Fresh and enhanced features

    Meeting and webinar hosts can control whether participants can talk with everyone, with panelists and the host (for webinars), or only with the host.

  • Display elapsed time for meeting/webinar

    You have an option to include a clock in the meeting or webinar display, showcasing how much time has elapsed. Configure this option in the Settings of your Zoom application.

  • Link to join a meeting from a browser when the Zoom client cannot be used

    If a user cannot join a meeting or webinar from their client, they see a message that includes an option to join the meeting using their browser. This enables them to join the meeting, but with limited features.

  • Movie filter

    If you select the Apply movie filter option, your movie display is retouched with a soft concentrate. Configure this setting in Movie Settings.

  • Improved capability to invite rooms to meetings

    You can invite Zoom Rooms in your organization to meetings by using the Invite Zoom Rooms tab when you click Invite from your meeting in progress. You can also select a specific Room Connector when you call out to invite a room system to the meeting.

  • Enhanced virtual background

    The underlying technology for virtual backgrounds has been improved, including situations where side lighting is used.

    • Meeting features
      • Increase in the maximum number of thumbnails

        Depending on your screen size and resolution, the maximum number of thumbnails in the active speaker view or a collective screen view will automatically adjust, displaying up to six thumbnails.

      • Improved capability to unify audio and movie

        Meeting participants who join by phone are reminded of their participant number when they click the Already joined by Phone button so that they can more lightly unify their audio and movie.

    • Webinar features
      • Live streaming to custom-made services

        If configured by your account administrator, you can live stream a webinar to a custom-made platform. If you configure this when you schedule a webinar, you can begin streaming with one click after your webinar starts.

      • Display participant email addresses to hosts

        Hosts and co-hosts can hover over the name of an attendee to see their email address.

    • Talk features
      • Sending screen captures, files, and pictures over end-to-end encrypted talk
        • Recordings are available even if you have chosen to not use audio for the meeting. You see a notification that the recording will embark with movie only.
        • Better support for a range of movie devices.
        • Improved profile picture management when embarking or joining a meeting without enabling movie.
        • Extra bug fixes.

        Switch to an existing feature

        Previously, if you specified the Hide Myself option to hide your own movie display during a meeting, your movie would be automatically hidden in your display during subsequent meetings, and you would have to specify Demonstrate Myself to see yourself in your own movie display. This setting is now set to Showcase Myself at the embark of all meetings, and you must specifically choose Hide Myself during each meeting you attend.

      When you choose an option on th e Broadcast Zoom Webinar to Facebook Live page for Who should see this? , the options now include Group . See Streaming a Webinar on Facebook Live for details.

        If the administrator of your account chooses to disable the option for File transfer and screen capture , the Talk text entry area will not include buttons for Screen Capture , Send Picture , and Send File .

    • Users have the option to rotate their movie if the camera is displayed upside down.
    • Meeting participants connected to audio by calling in using a telephone, or by using the Call Me option can proceed hearing the audio portion of a meeting after their laptop is closed or comes in sleep mode.

    • Meeting features
      • Numerous participants can share their screen at the same time

      Meetings that are recorded in the cloud now include an extra recording file that shows the Gallery view.

    • Attendee waiting room

      Hosts can enable a waiting room that lets them control when a participant joins the meeting. The host sees the list of participants in the waiting room, and then selectively permits them to join the meeting. If this option is enabled, the option to permit attendees to join the meeting before the host arrives is automatically disabled.

    • Support for the “End Call” button on Logitech Group

      If a Logitech Group system is used in a Zoom meeting, a participant can press the “End Call” button to leave the meeting. A host can press the “End Call” button to end the meeting.

    • Direct share in a Zoom Room with sharing key

      When proximity detection is not available in a Zoom Room, users can inject a key, consisting of a string of letters, to activate direct share. Click the Share Screen button to come in the sharing key.

    • 3rd party audio conference integration

      Administrators can enable users in their account to schedule meetings that use a 3rd party audio provider. Participants who dial into a meeting using the 3rd party audio option can merge their audio with their movie, and hosts have the capability to mute the audio.

  • Webinar feature
    • Facebook Live and YouTube Live integration

      If you have end-to-end encryption enabled, you can now include an outer participant in a group talk, even if that person does not have end-to-end encryption enabled.

    • The Zoom installer can be configured so that Zoom starts automatically and runs silently in the tray whenever Windows starts.

  • Accessibility enhancements

    Choose the option Record audio track for each speaker on the Recording Location tab of the Settings page in the client to create separate audio recording files, each isolating the audio of each speaker. If you do not choose this option, a single recording file mixes the audio of all speakers.

    Google has enhanced the login process and in the latest version of Zoom, logging into Zoom through Google takes advantage of these enhancements.

    Meeting and webinar hosts can control whether participants can talk with everyone, with panelists and the host (for webinars), or only with the host.

  • Display elapsed time for meeting/webinar

    You have an option to include a clock in the meeting or webinar display, displaying how much time has elapsed. Configure this option in the Settings of your Zoom application.

  • Link to join a meeting from a browser when the Zoom client cannot be used

    If a user cannot join a meeting or webinar from their client, they see a message that includes an option to join the meeting using their browser. This enables them to join the meeting, but with limited features.

  • Movie filter

    If you select the Apply movie filter option, your movie display is retouched with a soft concentrate. Configure this setting in Movie Settings.

  • Improved capability to invite rooms to meetings

    You can invite Zoom Rooms in your organization to meetings by using the Invite Zoom Rooms tab when you click Invite from your meeting in progress. You can also select a specific Room Connector when you call out to invite a room system to the meeting.

  • Enhanced virtual background

    The underlying technology for virtual backgrounds has been improved, including situations where side lighting is used.

      • Increase in the maximum number of thumbnails

        Depending on your screen size and resolution, the maximum number of thumbnails in the active speaker view or a collective screen view will automatically adjust, displaying up to six thumbnails.

      • Improved capability to unify audio and movie

        Meeting participants who join by phone are reminded of their participant number when they click the Already joined by Phone button so that they can more lightly unify their audio and movie.

        If configured by your account administrator, you can live stream a webinar to a custom-made platform. If you configure this when you schedule a webinar, you can begin streaming with one click after your webinar starts.

      • Display participant email addresses to hosts

        Hosts and co-hosts can hover over the name of an attendee to see their email address.

    • Talk features
      • Sending screen captures, files, and pictures over end-to-end encrypted talk
        • Recordings are available even if you have chosen to not use audio for the meeting. You see a notification that the recording will commence with movie only.
        • Better support for a range of movie devices.
        • Improved profile picture management when kicking off or joining a meeting without enabling movie.

        Switch to an existing feature

        Previously, if you specified the Hide Myself option to hide your own movie display during a meeting, your movie would be automatically hidden in your display during subsequent meetings, and you would have to specify Showcase Myself to see yourself in your own movie display. This setting is now set to Display Myself at the begin of all meetings, and you must specifically choose Hide Myself during each meeting you attend.

    • Direct share in a Zoom Room with sharing key

      When proximity detection is not available in a Zoom Room, users can come in a key, consisting of a string of letters, to activate direct share. Click the Share Screen button to come in the sharing key.

    • 3rd party audio conference integration

      Administrators can enable users in their account to schedule meetings that use a 3rd party audio provider. Participants who dial into a meeting using the 3rd party audio option can merge their audio with their movie, and hosts have the capability to mute the audio.

      If you have end-to-end encryption enabled, you can now include an outer participant in a group talk, even if that person does not have end-to-end encryption enabled.

    A host can request a URL to be used by a 3rd party closed captioning solution. The URL provides access to the specific event, enabling the instrument to come in caption text for a Zoom meeting or webinar. See Closed Caption REST API for details.

  • Accessibility enhancements

    Choose the option Record audio track for each speaker on the Recording Location tab of the Settings page in the client to create separate audio recording files, each isolating the audio of each speaker. If you do not choose this option, a single recording file mixes the audio of all speakers.

    Google has enhanced the login process and in the latest version of Zoom, logging into Zoom through Google takes advantage of these enhancements.

    Significant: If you log in using Google, you must upgrade the client before April 20.

    Meeting and webinar hosts can control whether participants can talk with everyone, with panelists and the host (for webinars), or only with the host.

  • Display elapsed time for meeting/webinar

    You have an option to include a clock in the meeting or webinar display, displaying how much time has elapsed. Configure this option in the Settings of your Zoom application.

  • Link to join a meeting from a browser when the Zoom client cannot be used

    If a user cannot join a meeting or webinar from their client, they see a message that includes an option to join the meeting using their browser. This enables them to join the meeting, but with limited features.

  • Movie filter

    If you select the Apply movie filter option, your movie display is retouched with a soft concentrate. Configure this setting in Movie Settings.

  • Improved capability to invite rooms to meetings

    You can invite Zoom Rooms in your organization to meetings by using the Invite Zoom Rooms tab when you click Invite from your meeting in progress. You can also select a specific Room Connector when you call out to invite a room system to the meeting.

  • Enhanced virtual background

    The underlying technology for virtual backgrounds has been improved, including situations where side lighting is used.

      • Increase in the maximum number of thumbnails

        Depending on your screen size and resolution, the maximum number of thumbnails in the active speaker view or a collective screen view will automatically adjust, displaying up to six thumbnails.

      • Improved capability to unify audio and movie

        Meeting participants who join by phone are reminded of their participant number when they click the Already joined by Phone button so that they can more lightly unify their audio and movie.

      • Live streaming to custom-built services

        If configured by your account administrator, you can live stream a webinar to a custom-built platform. If you configure this when you schedule a webinar, you can begin streaming with one click after your webinar embarks.

      • Display participant email addresses to hosts

        Hosts and co-hosts can hover over the name of an attendee to see their email address.

    • Talk features
      • Sending screen captures, files, and pictures over end-to-end encrypted talk
        • Recordings are available even if you have chosen to not use audio for the meeting. You see a notification that the recording will embark with movie only.
        • Better support for a range of movie devices.
        • Improved profile picture management when embarking or joining a meeting without enabling movie.
        • Extra bug fixes.

        Switch to an existing feature

        Previously, if you specified the Hide Myself option to hide your own movie display during a meeting, your movie would be automatically hidden in your display during subsequent meetings, and you would have to specify Display Myself to see yourself in your own movie display. This setting is now set to Demonstrate Myself at the begin of all meetings, and you must specifically choose Hide Myself during each meeting you attend.

      If a Logitech Group system is used in a Zoom meeting, a participant can press the “End Call” button to leave the meeting. A host can press the “End Call” button to end the meeting.

    • Direct share in a Zoom Room with sharing key

      When proximity detection is not available in a Zoom Room, users can inject a key, consisting of a string of letters, to activate direct share. Click the Share Screen button to inject the sharing key.

    • 3rd party audio conference integration

      Administrators can enable users in their account to schedule meetings that use a 3rd party audio provider. Participants who dial into a meeting using the 3rd party audio option can merge their audio with their movie, and hosts have the capability to mute the audio.

      If you have end-to-end encryption enabled, you can now include an outer participant in a group talk, even if that person does not have end-to-end encryption enabled.

  • Accessibility enhancements

    Choose the option Record audio track for each speaker on the Recording Location tab of the Settings page in the client to create separate audio recording files, each isolating the audio of each speaker. If you do not choose this option, a single recording file mixes the audio of all speakers.

    Meeting and webinar hosts can control whether participants can talk with everyone, with panelists and the host (for webinars), or only with the host.

  • Display elapsed time for meeting/webinar

    You have an option to include a clock in the meeting or webinar display, displaying how much time has elapsed. Configure this option in the Settings of your Zoom application.

  • Link to join a meeting from a browser when the Zoom client cannot be used

    If a user cannot join a meeting or webinar from their client, they see a message that includes an option to join the meeting using their browser. This enables them to join the meeting, but with limited features.

  • Movie filter

    If you select the Apply movie filter option, your movie display is retouched with a soft concentrate. Configure this setting in Movie Settings.

  • Improved capability to invite rooms to meetings

    You can invite Zoom Rooms in your organization to meetings by using the Invite Zoom Rooms tab when you click Invite from your meeting in progress. You can also select a specific Room Connector when you call out to invite a room system to the meeting.

  • Enhanced virtual background

    The underlying technology for virtual backgrounds has been improved, including situations where side lighting is used.

      • Increase in the maximum number of thumbnails

        Depending on your screen size and resolution, the maximum number of thumbnails in the active speaker view or a collective screen view will automatically adjust, displaying up to six thumbnails.

      • Improved capability to unify audio and movie

        Meeting participants who join by phone are reminded of their participant number when they click the Already joined by Phone button so that they can more lightly unify their audio and movie.

        If configured by your account administrator, you can live stream a webinar to a custom-made platform. If you configure this when you schedule a webinar, you can begin streaming with one click after your webinar commences.

      • Display participant email addresses to hosts

        Hosts and co-hosts can hover over the name of an attendee to see their email address.

    • Talk features
      • Sending screen captures, files, and pictures over end-to-end encrypted talk
        • Recordings are available even if you have chosen to not use audio for the meeting. You see a notification that the recording will begin with movie only.
        • Better support for a range of movie devices.
        • Improved profile picture management when beginning or joining a meeting without enabling movie.

        Switch to an existing feature

        Previously, if you specified the Hide Myself option to hide your own movie display during a meeting, your movie would be automatically hidden in your display during subsequent meetings, and you would have to specify Display Myself to see yourself in your own movie display. This setting is now set to Demonstrate Myself at the begin of all meetings, and you must specifically choose Hide Myself during each meeting you attend.

      When proximity detection is not available in a Zoom Room, users can come in a key, consisting of a string of letters, to activate direct share. Click the Share Screen button to come in the sharing key.

    • 3rd party audio conference integration

      Administrators can enable users in their account to schedule meetings that use a 3rd party audio provider. Participants who dial into a meeting using the 3rd party audio option can merge their audio with their movie, and hosts have the capability to mute the audio.
