Using Clever Switch on Your Mac® or PC to Transfer Files from an Android Device to an Android Device

Samsung Brainy Switch makes it effortless to transfer contacts, photos, messages and more from your old device to your fresh Galaxy.

Prerequisites

Make sure that your PC or Mac and your Android device meet the system requirements for Brainy Switch (see the Clever Switch for PC requirements and the Brainy Switch for Mac requirements topics on the Introduction page).

Make sure that the type of data you want to transfer is supported (see Which content types can be transferred using Clever Switch Mobile? on the FAQs page).

Preparing to Transfer Content to Your Fresh Device

On your computer, turn off or temporarily disable your firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-malware, and other security instruments. These can block Brainy Switch from accessing and transferring information to your fresh device.

Download the Clever Switch for Mac or PC installer by clicking here. After downloading, double-click the installer to begin the installation process.

The screens below display how to install Brainy Switch on a PC.

Before you can install the app, you must accept the license agreement. Select the I accept. checkboxes and then click Next.

After the installation is accomplish, click Finish.

A prompt may show up that requires you to update Brainy Switch.

Create a Back-up

Connect your old Android device to your computer using a USB cable.

On the Clever Switch screen, click MORE.

Click Preferences and then click the Backup items tab.

Select the content types you would like to back up and then click OK.

Click Backup on the main Clever Switch screen. The back-up may take several minutes to finish.

You will need to permit permissions on your device to accomplish the back-up.

A screen will show up, informing you that the back-up is finish. Click OK.

Default Save Locations

When you back up your files from your Android device to a Windows PC or a Mac, the files are automatically stored in a default location, unless you’ve selected to store them elsewhere. The default locations relative to the operating systems are provided below.

Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Wandering\Samsung\Wise Switch PC

To quickly access the AppData folder, click Embark. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press the Inject key.
